This explains what Danes Price Checker collects, why, and what you can do about it. Short version: we collect what we need to run the site, we don't sell your data, and you can delete your account at any time.
What we collect
Account info: your email, username and password (stored only as a secure scrambled hash, never in plain text), and when you joined.
Profile info you choose to add: photo, bio, location, favorite brands, Instagram and Grailed usernames, and your profile color.
What you post: chat messages and photos, plus reports you send.
Your settings: deal picks (brands and sizes), favorite rooms, friends, and whether deal emails are on.
Membership info: your plan and its status. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
Technical info: your IP address, used briefly to stop spam and abuse (for example, limiting how many codes or photo checks one connection can request).
Visitor statistics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without tracking you across other sites.
Cookies and storage
We use one cookie to keep you logged in. Your browser also stores a few preferences (like your last search and deal picks) on your own device. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
To run your account, chat, friends, deals and legit checks.
To send emails you ask for: login codes, deal emails, and membership receipts.
To keep the site safe: blocking spam, checking photos for explicit content, and enforcing the rules.
To understand how the site is used, in total (for example, how many messages are sent per day).
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We only share it with services that help run Danes:
Cloudflare hosts the site and stores account and chat data.
Stripe processes membership payments.
Resend sends our emails.
Anthropic (Claude) analyzes photos you upload to chat for safety, and photos you submit to the AI legit check. Photos are sent only for that check.
Things you post in chat and your public profile (username, photo, bio, location, brands, links) can be seen by other users. We may also share information if the law requires it or to protect people from harm, including reporting child sexual abuse material to the authorities.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, friends, settings and chat messages, and cancel any membership. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires, and some data can stay in backups for a short time before it's removed.
Your choices
Edit your profile any time, and delete your own messages.
Turn deal emails off on the Deals page, or with the link in any deal email.
Delete your account from Account → Delete account.
Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask any privacy question, through the contact page.
Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have extra rights, like knowing what we hold about you or asking us to correct or delete it. Contact us and we'll help.
Children
Danes is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we'll delete it.
Security
Connections to Danes are encrypted, passwords are hashed, and login is protected against repeated guessing. No site is perfectly secure, so use a password you don't use anywhere else.
Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we'll show a notice on the site or email you.
